Verse:
He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
Takeaway:
Love. It’s a beautiful thing, but why do we love?
“I love you because…” You can fill in the blank. There are many “reasons” why we love someone. “I love you because you’re beautiful!”; “…because you make me feel great!”; “…because you care for me!”. What happens when those “reasons” are stripped away? Do we still love?
Walking in God’s kind of love is freedom. Freedom from expectations and reasons. There’s no reason why He loves us. He just does. God is love. (1 John 4:8)
God loved us so much he sent his only son to the earth to suffer and die in our place. Unconditional love never changes. There’s no expiration date. God’s love is eternal just as God himself is eternal, because God is love!
Love is a state of being. Love is a choice. If we look past all the reasons for loving someone, what do you see? What does God see?
Action:
Man looks on the outside, but God looks at the heart! (1 Samuel 16:7)
Be willing to look past all the reasons and see the heart! You may just find a diamond in the rough! (Ephesians 5:25)
